Safeguarding animal welfare, advancing public health, and improving veterinary services in Zimbabwe through regulatory excellence.
Veterinary Surgeons lead the veterinary team, entrusted with preventing, diagnosing, and treating animal diseases—preserving animal welfare, safeguarding public health, enhancing productivity in food systems, and protecting livelihoods. Their work upholds the ethical care of animals, strengthens community resilience and supports national development.
Veterinary nurses are the heart of compassionate animal care. As vital members of the veterinary workforce, veterinary nurses help manage veterinary practices and assist with treatment, monitoring patient recovery, and client education. Combining skill and empathy, their contributions uplift the wellbeing of animals—and by extension, the communities that depend on them.
The Council safeguards the integrity of the veterinary profession, ensuring services strengthen livestock value chains, enhance productivity, and protect Zimbabwe’s agricultural economy. By positioning veterinary regulation as a pillar of biosecurity, food security, and sustainable development, we uphold professional standards, enforce statutory compliance, and safeguard animal health, food safety, public health, and the environment.
